All my pieces contain naturally processed forms which without exception bare in mind the simple premise of working with respect. The processes I use are indigenous in origin and therefore proven to be environmentally benign. However it is not entered into lightly and my understanding comes from the knowledge of what it costs to produce. All hides I have used are a product of human consumption and demand, be it from road traffic accidents or the meat and dairy industry.

My premiss is that all synthetic and processed materials have a relative cost and we as adults make a conscious decision regarding the materials we use. Often these decisions are made without a true understanding and therefore due to this fundamental flaw without our true consent.

I entered into making these pieces to highlight the plight of many of the animals under our care and stewardship and believe we have a duty care to protect and sustain the natural spaces still remaining, before we ruin them by exhausting them completely.

The real truth “It is easy to turn a blind eye”

My goal is to highlight the need for us as a people to remember how to be in balance live in harmony and walk in beauty with all of creation not just with our own selfish agendas but offering respect, education and understanding of what we are currently losing.

This is seemingly very difficult for all of us to hear, as the reality we need to face. The reality is our need to wake up and to stop living our lives in a less than meaningful manner. The simple truth one planet one people and the choice not to make the Richard Fleischer 70’s film classic ‘Soylent Green’ our reality. If you’ve have a problem with the idea of responsibility not only for ourselves but for others also, you really need to “WAKE UP!”

In truth we live in a vibrant multi cultural society which should be applauded, not vilified, but celebrated because believe it or not beneath the skin we are all red, one people. I’ve experienced this first hand and this simple truth includes the animals that coexist with us.

Protection, conservation and education are essential to enable us to understand how we can re-learn to live in a more sustainable and balanced way.

Unfortunately we rely heavily on materials sourced from economies which have a ready supply of cheap labour ( often child labour ) for less than adequate pay. I believe this is wrong because in my opinion the controls in place are often also highly suspect and lever-able with the right type incentive. Therefore by complacency we all, myself included are guilty of complicit behavior whether we know it or not.

Piety resolved, transgression.
